240 Wagon Window Not Working
Drivers manual window won’t roll down. Window handle simply turns and turns with no movement of the glass. Took the door panel off, but without an understanding of how the regulator functions, not sure where to start. Can not locate a drawing or video that serves as a starting point to figure out what’s wrong. Any ideas, or any links to provide more info? 1987 240 DL wagon automatic. Thanks!
typical solution is to replace the regulator assembly. thats the 'scissors' thing that lifts and lowers the window and includes the gearbox the crank attaches to. there's nothing(*) serviceable inside, odds are the gears are stripped.
I believe the regulator for a manual crank front left window is 1211576
ouch, discontinued from the dealer. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...ulator-1211576
I'm not finding any aftermarket replacements, either, only power windows.
(*) there are some plastic slider blocks that can be replaced, but they are needed if the window drags going up/down, or goes up/down crooked.

So I spent a few hours on it today and got it figured out. Thank god all the parts were in the door and in ok shape, except majorly bent. Assuming a prior owner was in a pinch to get the window up and did whatever was needed to accomplish. Like you, I searched and couldn’t find a replacement....so approached the job figuring I’d just have to make it work. Luck was on my side this time! Thanks.
