Default 240 won't fire when cold

I have a 1986 240 dl wagon that refuses to fire (spark) when the temp drops into the twenties. If I open the hood and TOUCH NOTHING, just let the sun heat the engine bay for as little as 30 seconds, it fires right up every time. No sun, no start. If ambient temp climbs into the 40s, it usually fires. Dealer replaced coil and control unit for a ton of money, problem remains. AY thoughts out there?

Thanks.
