Default 445 miles so far on one tank!!!

I had a question about my 93 940t that has baffled me.I was checking the air filter and saw the big foam baffle in the air box.Well I took it out and I dint notice any more power but I did notice that it was less fuel efficient so I put it back and now I hit 445 miles on one tank.Grant it I am on E and don't know if I am going to make it to the gas station.I thought that I would get more power and better fuel economy with that baffleout.Whats up?

how do you make this?

I got 280 miles ot of one tank (15galon) I dont even have an turbo wagon!?
I usually go slow form here to there but still a very bad ecconomy!

I just bought the car so maybe its normal to go just 280 miles with one filling...?

what could be the reason for such a bad fuel ecconomy? wich parts are the first ones to check/exchange?!

thnaks

That is a great question. The funny thing is that4 weeks agoI took out the baffle that is in the air box thinking that the car will breath better and getting economy but that wasn't the case.I put it back in my mileage increased.Have you check the cat in your exhaust? If it is clogged it can kill your gas mileage. Also check everything that has to do with a tune up,plugs, air filter, etc.
