Volvo 850 - alternator sticks out too far??
Hello,
I've just acquired a Volvo 850 Turbo, my second Volvo.
Yesterday, the serpentine belt broke on the highway. I got it to the shop, and they got a new belt on, but told me that the alternator pulley is sticking out too far - it's off by about the width of one belt rib.
Everything else fits - the alternator was bolted properly to the engine, and looked fine, except for the pulley spacing.
I'm wondering - is it worth the effort to pull off the current alternator, and look for shims to remove or any other way to move the pulley in? Or am I stuck getting a new alternator?
Has anyone else heard of this before?
Thanks in advance for any info!

So, any idea where I would go to get the correct pully, aside from buying a used alternator?
Tomorrow I'm going to take the alt. out to see what's going on and i would be nice to have a pully on hand just in case (or know where to mail order one for next weekend).
