Default 740 Cold Start Problems

Hi,
I had the same problem last winter. I have no problem starting the car in warm weather. As soon as it gets real cold out, when I try to start the car it sputters. If I can give it a little gas and keep it running it will run fine when warmed up. If it stalls then I'm out of luck it won't start until it warms up outside. Usually above freezing? Does something "sense" how much fuel it needs to start when warm or cold? Any help is appreciated..

Thanks,
Pat

Thanks Tech,
What do I look for in a faulty one, and where is it located. Can I "clean" it?

There is a chart for ohming the sensor to see if it is good or bad. Which I don't have at home.

No cleaning won't help.

It is located in the head under the intake manifold about half way back.

hello fellow Volvo drivers,

regarding 740 cold starts, with my Volvo being a '91 740T, I've seen vaguely that turbos do not have pre-heat hoses, my 240 did. so, does the turbo 740 infact have the pre-heat hose? if so, what procedure do i take to make sure this is installed? thanks.
