Cold start problems
I have an 01 S60 with 165K.
With colder temps over the past week the car has taken long cranks over the past few nights when it is left outside for prolonged periods. It turns over in one crank but really struggles to do so. I work in the middle of nowhere and don't want to get stuck so I had the battery tested and it came out good.
Any thoughts on what the cause might be? Could it still be the battery losing charge when parked outside in the cold all day. I never have problems in the morning because its parked in a garage. Im not seeing any error messages. The long cranks are not rapid either its like a sluggish crank and then it starts, drives fine once it does start. Could it be fuel related?
Cheers

RE: Cold start problems
no gas smell tech. My mechanic suggested changing the battery even though it tested good. he also tested it by removing the injector wires to see the load the starter was putting on it.
Wondering if I should just replace the battery or take it to the dealership. Don't know what they would check with such an intermittent problem. It was -10 today and it started right up.
