740 Regina Fuel Pump questions...
Yeah, I emptied the tank after ruining a fuel pump. It's completely dry and waiting for a new pump. The sending unit is no good, or at least I can't get any consistent readings from it, but I'm just going to have to live without it since there doesn't appear to be either any easy fix or an affordable reliable replacement.
When I found the rust in the forward end of the filter, I realized there are probably problems with the line, but I don't quite understand this hose (vinyl?) with those metal barb fittings with no clamps (?), especially when the operating pressure is around 45psi. How does that work? I'm assuming the hose can be replaced with rubber hose and good quality clamps used to secure the barb fittings on either end.
I found a video showing good results for rust removal called Krud Kutter Must for Rust that I plan to use on the inside of the rail once I get it pulled. In the meantime I'm waiting for injector kits and hoping a good cleaning and o-ring replacement will suffice on the injectors. There are some clever methods on Youtube for making your own injector cleaning tool.
Why, O why, I dove into a project on a 740 with "ticks and fleas" is beyond me. Oh well. I'm in too deep to back out now.
My friend Marie used to say, "Some of us learn the hard way, and some of us never learn at all".

Does anybody here know if the fuel filter for the Regina system is the same as for the Bosch system?
I am having a time researching this. On the sites I've checked, the search filters don't break it down beyond Turbo or not, and even then I can't tell if those might be the same. The one on this vehicle is an unlabeled Chinese one so I don't even have a part number to cross-reference.

I believe the same filter is used for both Bosch and regina...this filter is listed as applicable for both turbo and na Volvo's...240, 740, 760, 780, 940, 960
