740 Turbo - Oil in Wrong Place!
Help! I have a '87 740 turbo that is pulling lots of oil into the combustion chamber all of a sudden. I took it for a drive and noticed a huge cloud of white smoke billowing from the exhaust under full throttle. The hoses to and from the intercooler are all coated with oil.
I just finished putting new seals in the carrier for the oil filter, but don't see how it can be related. It seems like the problem is related to engine's breather system and the turbo.
Any help is greatly appreciated...Thanks!
Bob

white smoke= coolant, condensation or someone dumped transmission fluid into your gas tank
blue smoke= oil
black smoke=very rich fueling condition
brown smoke=carbon being combusted (often a car that has been driven slowly, gently around town and then someone gets in and floors it...often referred to as "Blowing the soot out of her")
At first glance, your description is more that of a failing head gasket. Under hard acceleration, coolant is being consumed. Is the oil on the i/c hoses on the outside or inside of the hoses?
