82 245 LH--air mass meter or ecu problem?
Hello!
82 245 LH-Jetronic. With air hose including air mass meter connected to air intake duct at throttle, engine starts, surges, I can keep it running for maybe a minute or two by pumping the accelerator, then it stumbles and dies. But when I disconnect air hose at throttle air intake duct, engine russ fine, revs up and idles normally. Is this an air mass meter problem or could it be an ecu problem? For a long time I thought it was a fuel system problem but fuel pressure is fine, all electronic tests listed in official Volvo manual check out fine, including resistances at air mass meter. Also I replaced fuel filter, in-tank pump, siphoned old fuel from tank and put in new, and installed plugs, wire, dist cap and rotor. Nothing changed the basic problem until I disconnected the air hose at throttle. Also there's no obstruction in air hose from the intake all the way to the throttle. There is some oil in the hose. Would that be an air mass meter problem or could it maybe also be ecu?
Thanks a lot for any help!

Have you tried cleaning the MAF. I havehad similar problem with some oil in the intake hose, on my 87 240. Cleaning the MAF & intake hose helped. Clean with brake clean or TB cleaner.
Thanks for the suggestion. I had already ordered a new air mass meter (same as MAF?) after somewhat cleaning the old one in gasoline, so I didn't reclean it with carb cleaner. Problem solved, runs fine, though at more expense than a can of carb. cleaner. Went through a lot of testing I didn't have to do if I had only started simply: Is it getting fuel, a spark, and air? I guess the AMM was setting the fuel so rich it wouldn't keep running. Plugs were fouled with soft soot. Thanks again.
Do you have an air leak, around the intank hose, infront the AMM .I had a crack hose,It was causeing me problems,I had an crack at the bottom of the hose. The only way I find out ,after removing the amm.
