Rough ideal and smells like gas...

I have a 1986 244 that has a rough idle and when I am driving it and come to a stop I can smell the gas while the engine idles. Any help, leads, comments are welcome. I am slowly learn to fix the volvo so any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a gas leak for starters. Find that first as it may catch on fire. Rough idle can be just a need for a tune up... Hard to say. Check for vacuum leaks, but take care of the gas leak first!

 

You smell straight gas like smelling a gas can, or a mixture of unburnt gas and exhaust? Could be an exhaust leak that is near the engine, or you are running rich. Might have some worn engine or transmission mounts. Idle RPM might bee too low.

 

Well, I would have to say it smells like exhaust and gas mixed not so strong that it just seems like I was smelling gas straight from a can. I think I am running rich as well any suggestions where I should start to look for the issue if she is running rich? As for the RPMs i could know better if Volvo thought that an RPM gauge was more important then a clock haha love the clock in the clusters thought.

I did the engine and trans mounts over the winter but there is still a lot of shack to my engine?

 

Injectors not leaking are they??

Had an oring go on an older car, no warning, just smelled fuel strongly, and saw a stream behind me.
