Default 87 740 blower fuse

Hi Everyone!

First post here...

My friend has a 1987 740 NA and the blower fuse always blows as soon as you turn the blower on. This is his first car and I'm helping him get it all straightened out.

I've looked over the wiring diagram and I have the Haynes manual. We took the blower motor out and it turns freely. The glove box light works just fine (looks like they share a ground).

What should we look at?

I'm thinking that this is the blower switch. Before we spend $50 on new one what else should we look at or test? We haven't seen any chaffed wires and the car is still chugging along at 231k miles.

Thanks!
