Default '88 240 motor compatible with '86 245?

I am contemplating replacing the ruined motor from my '86 240 with one that is available at my local JY. They have 3 motors that are LH2.2; including this one which is by far the best looking one. The 6th and 7th VIN digits are all 88; this indicates they should be completely interchangable. However the 1988 motor that I like has a unique wiring harness number that appears to be found only on that particular year model( this info from Dave Barton's Wiring Harness page). Will this harness work with my '86 ECU, O2 sensor, Coolant Temp sensor, etc. or will some minor modifications enable it to work with my car?
Any of the 240 gurus here have an opinion or possibly first hand info regarding this swap?

the O2 sensors should all be the same, ditto coolant sensor, MAF, etc. worst case, swap an 88 ECU into your car? afaik, 87/88 were identical, and really hardly different than 86. all 3 of those year 240's used the chrysler ignition module on the front right fender.

the blocks are pretty much all interchangable

Thanks, Pierce. I'm going forward with this. I'll see if the ECU from the donor car is available; I may need it. The harness on my '86 is toast; the one one the '88 looks really good.
