I talked to an auto rebuilder and he said there is another volvo motor that can be a direct fit with my 2007 s40 non turbo, anyone know of this or tried it out?

 

Sounds like you are having engine problems?

I'm curious if the rebuilder specified an engine from another Volvo model or another engine that came in the S40? The S40 came with a 2.4L or 2.5L engine but there are a couple different 2.4L versions depending on where the car was originally sold. Then there is the V40.

 

Try searching car-parts.com. You'll need to look at your VIN for the engine code digits but you should be able to use 2005-2007 S40/V50s. Looks like a complete engine goes for $600-$1200
