Hi guys,

The transmission has always been long on shifting, it was making a klunk sound, like it was hitting the inside box or something, between gear. But it went louder and louder, and now when I stop, ther is a another klunk sound and the same kind of hit from the back of the car. Any ideas about it ? What can I do ?

I would have a mechanic take a look at the universal joints. A Volvo mechanic, preferably an independent Volvo mechanic, or the dealer if that's all you got. Definately not a national franchise shop. Also I would check the tranny fluid to see if it's the proper level and if it's brown or burnt. You don't say what kind of a tranny it is and I'm guessing AW70/71.

 

It's not a u-joint if it's happening while down shifting. Check the fluid and if that's not low or really bad, your tranny is bad.

 

Sounds like a worn, loose or broken trans mount or a bad U-joint...possibly a bad motor mount letting the trans move around a bit?

 

Thank's guy for the reply, I'll check the fluid and I'll have to go see a mechanic to investigate the problem, cause I never fixed a transmission.
