88 740 turbo - will not start
Hello
I was driving my 88 740 turbo a week ago in the rain and drove through some water. It splashed up under the car and it stalled. I was able to start it again about 3-4 minutes later, but it did not run long and died again. The car was towed to a shop and they said that the problem was the Jetronic ecu. I replaced that, but it still does not start. The car cranks, and the fuel pumps seem to be working. I checked it at the fuel line under the hood, and there is pressure there, but there is just no spark. I'm not sure what to check next, so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Check the engine speed sensor located at the back of the engine.
Check the Power stage located on the inside of the drivers side fender.
How does the engine harness look?

Is this a Bosch K-Jetronic injection system?
If so they are VERY sensitive to intake air leaks after the fuel metering unit. If the water tore a turbo hose, for example, air would be sucked through the torn hose and not through the metering vane...and no fuel would be injected.
Just a thought, 'cause the wiring harnesses tend to disintegrate also.
