Default '88 Volvo 240DL Fuel Pump

Sup guys

Over the course of this summer, I've replaced nearly every major electrical part (due to no starts) in my 240, and for a few months it ran fine. But the other day the car just died on me. The guy who towed my car said he couldn't hear the fuel pump. After some investigation, I think it may be a fuel pump problem. I was recommended to spray carb fluid into the throttle hose, which seemed to start the car temporarily. I also popped in a new fuel pump relay.

My question is; What is an easy way to determine if the fuel pump is dead? About how expensive/difficult are they to replace?

Thanks!

Well, that's pretty much it... Short of a wiring problem looks like it is your pump...
Then again, having replaced "every major electrical part", who knows?

Have you checked the 25 amp fuse coming off of the positive battery terminal (located near power steering fluid resevoir)? That fuse is a key component in getting power to the pump. Try taking a paper clip or something similar and touch fuse # 4 & 6 together. This will make the main pump turn on if the pump is working. If it works, then you need to trace the problem (start with 25 amp fuse), if it doesn't, I'd suspect the pump to be bad.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I meant every major electrical part under the hood (alternator, battery, distributor cap etc) . I havent messed with the wiring. Hearing about the electrical problems of this car, I wouldnt be surprised if its something small.

I will check it tomorrow and update.
