Default 89 240DL doin the crab

89 240DL wagon- straight, rust free, NO evidence of ever being in an accident- drove behind it the other day and the front (left) doesnt track behind the rear. Doing the crab. What should I look for in an alignment facility, Or is there something specific to investigate? After new rear shocks (last night) rides well. I wonder why it crabs like this. Anyone? Thanks! Dave

Check the rear suspension bushings. Torque rod, track bar, trailing arms.

Blue- Would I just get under there (jackstands) and jerk around on things, looking for looseness? or is some dissassembly needed? Dave

I think bad bushings would be noticeable by getting under there and looking around -- jackstand support as you said.

Especially the track bar, sometimes called the track rod or panhard rod. It's supposed to center the differential. When lowered springs are installed or when the original springs start sagging sometimes the track rod no longer can track. So it could be sagging springs or bad bushings on the track bar. Often an adjustable track bar is installed after lowering springs.

Post back with what you find out.

She's a beauty! Love the wheels. I'm in upstate NY, outside of Syracuse. The snow has been coming down for two days now. Bought my 240 from a guy in Virginia, so ive got no rust...yet. D
