all 740/940 seats fit as a straight up bolt in. I think 760/960 do, too, but if they are power seats and your car doesn't have the wiring, you'll need the harness connector off the donor car and run your own wiring to it. I put 940 seats in my 92 740T that had shredded leather, the driver side was power, the passenger wasn't. the 940 seats have a fairly different style to the leather panels, so best to replace both. oh, I had to swap the harness connectors for this.
in different years, there were variations on the seat belts and side trim pieces, but those are exchangeable between seat frames, you just need a really big metric allen socket and a half inch breaker bar to get those off/on (they are torqued on pretty darn hard because its a major safety thing in a big crash).
door panels should be interchangable between all 740s. 940's are a different style, but could probably be retrofitted. late version 940 had different speaker mounts so if you have upgraded aftermarket door speakers in your 740, I don't think you can swap them into the updated panels.
re: seats, you can generally retrofit *ANY* sort of seat thats an appropriate size and height to fit in the car and has its own adjustment rails by making an adapter plate... the plate would bolt to the floor, using the original bolts, and the alternative seat's rails would bolt to the plate. I've seen Recaro seats, for example, fitted into a variety of cars this way.
