''90 740 GL Service Light Reset not working
I've done my research, but I can't get that light to turn off! I've removed the plug and pushed the button with the ignition off, ignition on and car running and all to no avail. I've read that there should be a click, but hear nothing. I know it's a small issue, but I'd really like to see this light go away.
Any suggestions? Or is my switch shot?
Also, I've read this is triggered every 3K miles. Is that 3K from last service light reset or just every 3K miles?

At the off chance, because I made the same mistake - is this really the 'Service Light'? I myself mixed it up when the light that was on was 'Check Engine'. I pushed the button like you, and got frustrated until I realized that it wasn't the Service Light. Just checking!
i thought you had to key on, then press the button for like 2 seconds, release and press again for like 2 seconds to clear the service light, then key off, before it would reset. and of course, this sit he SERVICE light, not the CHECK ENGINE ligth, which has to be cleared via the OBD code reader box under the hood (and in many cases, the underlying cause has to be fixed first).
Lachbus, I appreciate the effort, but it is most definitely the Service light. It's small, orange and definitely says "Service" as opposed to "Check Engine." I realize this is probably a common mistake. I will admit to once mistaking the #4 cylinder for the #1 cylinder on a Ford 5.0 for a couple of days. Sheesh.
Pierce, I'll try your method and see.
I should have specified that I had checked the underhood box and that no codes were thrown. I got a clear 1-1-1.

No go! I tried it couple of times, both with just the ignition on and then with the car cranked. Nothing! I realize this is minor and probably not worth it, but everything about this little car is great. Any other suggestions are appreciated.
