92 240 won't start
Hello,
Have a 92 240 some details..
2.4 jetronic
B230f
No egr or cold start injector.
No 25 amp fuse on LH fender (some type of relay neat power block)
Seemed like a low voltage starting problem. (sometimes would only need a jump start, problems with fuel relay not clicking, intermittent stalling when warm)
Parts that are new.
battery
in tank fuel pump. car ran fine for approximatley 25 miles after pump was installed.
fuel filter
fuel relay (with several spares)
power stage
coolant temp sensor
Parts swapped with running donor vehicle .(since returned to orginal parts)
both ecus
rpm sensor
coil
wires
parts tested with auto ranging meter.
coil
wire
fuel injection ground connections (for continuity).
Reference materials.
This site
Haynes manual
All data online.
The issue: No start. Car will turn over strong.
Fuel level is approximately 5 gallons
During start with spark tester or a spark plug, you will notice ONE weak pinkish white spark (not a healthy blue spark)
seems to have no airflow issues.
Car sometimes catches with starting fluid (but chokes out due to no fuel)
The fuel pumps will activate with jumper wire.(both pumps)
Relay will activate when tripped via ecu connector.
(pumps will not activate)
When I remove fuse number 4 and check the voltage on the right side of the buss, (key on) I have 12 volts.
When I check the voltage while cranking, it is 115 mV (alldata says normal is 9-11V)
Voltage between the large red wire on the fuel pump relay adn the yellow blue (leads to ecu ground) is 2.5 volt (should be 12V)
One other issue. I am unable to access ANY dtc codes. The LED lights up with the test button. Terminals 2 & 6 each have 2.5 volts (ignition on) the LED has a very faint glow when plugged into port 2 or 6. (visible at dark) This is recent. (previously the dtc would register when a sensor was disconnected.)
My therories now are:
Starter (drawing too much current?)
ignition switch (though test of fuel ecu at terminal 35 shows 10-12 volts)
Some type of grounding issue.
Plan to try a remote starter tomorrow, (with ignition switchon)
any other thoughts????
Thanks.
Jethro

RE: 92 240 won't start
Update.
When this first started, I pulled all of the fuses, cleaned them and put them back.
While checking the voltage on location 6, I noticed a slight crack in the fuse.
I exchanged it with the power window fuse and Sherman started right up!
off to the parts store for new fuses all around!
