Default 92 940gl stalls , relay locations?

Hi everyone i own a 1992 volvo 940gl which i've had a problem the past week. Car runs fine last week. This week gettting worse now. Car drives 15mins, parked 8hrs, stalls out after driving less than a mile.

Today i couldn't get out of my neighborhood car stalled 3 times. Once cooled it would start and drive for like 200 feet.

What could be a common problem? and how to diagnosis fuel pump? thanks

Could be the fuel pump. Diagnosing is fairly simple. When you turn the key to the II position, you should hear the fuel pump run for approximately 1 second. Listen for this when you start the car in the morning. When it stalls, see if you hear the pump run. If you don't hear it then there's a good chance it is the relay. The location of the fuel pump relay just google volvo 940 fuel pump relay location. You will find many diagrams of how to locate it.

Other suspects could be your radio suppression relay or your crank position sensor. When your car stalls can you restart it again?

Yes car restarts after like 2minutes. But it does take a couple of cranks.

What kind of fuel injection does it have...bosch or regina?

There should be a Schrader valve on the fuel rail to test fuel pressure.

Relays are behind fuse box which is behind ashtray.

I do not know. I believe it's a regina. Only because when replacing my distributor cap it wasn't bosch . This was done at a shop

I testing the fuel pump relay under radio. it clicks and then i jumped the 2 leads and heard the pump whining inside the gas tank. Also tried the Obd light testing and got with lead in #2 (3 1 1) Speedo doesnt work (2 3 3 )idle valve ? (1 2 2 ) air temp? what are those codes . also the car has a exhaust leak right after the cat. also tested #6 code: 1 1 1
If i clear codes would the car run so i could get it to autozone and have it tested ?
Also now have check engine light on when starts.

Cleaned throttle body with carb cleaner and then started and it idles fine, when i held the throttle open for about 5 seconds and returned it to idle it stalled out .

Given what codes you list (idle valve, no speed input) combined with the fact that you can restart it makes me think that it may not be a fuel pump or relay problem. I would check your idle valve and make sure it is functioning properly. Check out the FAQ from brickboard: https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-9...ltyIAC_or_Hall

Also, the 311 code can cause stalling when coming to a stop. I had this code on my 240 and when I was coming to a stop I could feel the engine want to stall. Is your speedometer working? If not, you may want to check out the wire going to the sensor in the differential as that is the source of the speed signal in your car.
