My odometer stopped working but my speedometer still works. I read somewhere that the green gear splits. I opened the odometer and removed the little motor with the worm gear that drives the green gear. Now, when I turn the green gear, everything works. Could it be something else broken ? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

 

The motor might be bad if everything else is working properly.

 

I recently went through a similar issue on a 240. Many postings regarding this issue call attention to a gear that splits / cracks, teeth break off, etc... of which then renders the odometer useless - however, the speedo is unaffected. This gear is underneath the motor, housed against another gear. In my case, the suspected gear was in fine condition. The culprit was a spring. Attached to the motor is a unit that has a spring in it. I removed this unit and the spring, stretched the spring out, pieced it togehter, and all has worked fine.
