Default '93 Auto Trans and ABS Questions

Hi Everyone,

I got an un-running '93 wagon to upgrade my '92 wagon (heated seats, power windows, BBS wheels). Since the '93 was just sitting there I decided to tinker a bit and got it running. Its an auto and seems to shift fine for first and second under acceleration. Problem is it won't shift into third unless I let up on the accelerator for a second. Then it shifts and seems to work fine. OD doesn't work, but I have a relay on order (no arrow light, no clicking). Fluid is darkish, but full. Any suggestions what it might be?

Also the ABS light is on. I've read it might be the sensors or the fuses? Any other diagnostic starting points?

Body is good, so if the repairs are cheap, I might just resurrect the old wagon as a parts getter. If not, it'll be stripped and junked.

Thanks

Change the ATF first, wait for the relay, see what happens then...

ABS on a '93 should have on-board diagnostics: https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-9...cCodeRetrieval

for the transmission, check the transmission throttle pressure cable. this comes off the throttle 'spool' on top of the intake side of the engine, and heads back behind the motor and down along the firewall to the right side of the transmission. with no throttle pressure, there should be a slight amount of slack in the end of this cable, and there should be a little metal 'bead' on the cable thats about 1-2 mm from the adjustment ferrule. as you step on the throttle, this cable should be pulled out, and retract smoothly when you release the throttle.
