hey

I wanna tune up the grappy sound system in my 1993 volvo 940 station wagon...

did someone know how big the new speakers could be?! does every random radio fit in the slot?! or is it volvo specific size?!
i thought about the sony GT1325A (5-1/4" 2-way car speakers) .....

I seems that the 940 have 6 speakers, even if the 2 on the dashbord dont count because of really bad sound!
Is it ok if I just change the 4 in the doors and the radio or do the two from the dashbord also need to be replaced?!

has someone made good or bad experience with soundsystems?! and know a better page than this to order from?! :

This is ironic because Itoo hate the system in our cars and I just changed my system in my 93 wagon.Well I had a Sony in my 91 sedan and it sounded like S!@t !!! Well lucky for me the aux stop working and I sentitback to Sony for warrenty repair and bought a Clairion head unit and installed it into my wagon.It woke up my the car and I couldnt believe the difference.
I also have to say that I used to have high end systems in my prior cars such as ADS, Nakamichi,andMcintosh but my older age and other priorities have halted all that crazyness.
Second, it needed bass in the worst way and had and old 10" tube speaker and went to a Tweeter near me and I had them install the cheapest sub amp(because I new I was going to change it anyway and I was too lazy to install myself) and they put a JBL amp with huge wire for $210!!!.Well,when I first listened to it I wasnt impressed untill I played with the built in crossover and Holly S@#T!!! It sounds incredible!!My game plan changed altogether.I had a 4 channel amp and a set of 6 1\2 in Canton's that I was going to install but now I changed my mind.The highs in front the speakers are smooth and the bass is tight.The only thing that I am going to do is dynomat and insolate the doors which will increase midbass and quiet the car.
Crutchfield has the istall harness and adapter you need to do it your self and if you have any questions just ask.

so you finally put 6 1\2 in in the front and rear doors?! I thought 5 1\4 is the biggest that fit in there....

If you call them they will have one for the car.They will include the harness and the adapter for free withthe purchase of a radio.One thing about the install is the front of our car have4 speakers.Just double upon the front2 channels on the radio.
