Adding Aftermarket Fog Lights to 1992 740?
Hi,
I've been wishing I had front end fog lights on my 92 740 Turbo Wagon for a while and was poking around on a website where I'd managed to find other parts when I noticed they had aftermarket had Fog lights and brackets marketed as something that works with the car...
After looking at the pictures and having seen the bumper on my car off... I'm just wondering what all it would take to actually make these work? It looks like my car already has wiring in place... and I can tell where the lamps themselves would connect to the brackets, but looking at it, I'm confused as to how the bracket is supposed to be installed to the underside of the bumper. Is this likely to involve modifying the bumper much?

I haven't actually done this yet, but check out my post in this other recent thread,

that bracket is probably mounted under the bumper, and likely requires drilling through the plastic and metal bumper. I've never been a fan of rectangular fogs that are directly under the bumper, they get knocked out of alignment way too easily.
my plan is to make a bracket that mounts those microDE fogs behind the air dam so they just peek out through some holes I cut in it.
to use your factory wiring, you'll need to replace the dashboard switch with one from a early 960 or other car that has the dual fogs from the factory (some up-version 940's have these too), and you'll need the relay that goes with it too. I've installed this on my 1992 745T and proven the wiring is functional. I scrounged that switch from someone on a volvo email list I'm on for nearly nothing but postage, the switch simply snaps in place of your existing rear fog switch.
