Default Automatic transmission dip stick

I know that you are supposed to measure the A/T fluid with the engine running at idle and warm. But do you measure it on the first pull or the second pull?

My experience isn't Volvo specific but I usually check it a couple of times just to make sure. It shouldnt vary too much between the first and the second try but if it looks like there is alot of fluid and you cant get a good reading look at both sides of the dipstick one of the sides should be "clean" enough to get a good reading

The dip stick has a different measurement on each side. One is for a cold reading with the engine running for a few minutes and the other is when the tranny is hot after a good 10-15 min run. Make sure you move the gear selector through all of the gears before you take a reading. I usually take 2 or 3 readings.
