No rip off. They had to pulll the tranny because the sensor was seized. It was swelled up below the housing. They showed me the part. They charged me 100. They said because they had it for so long they cut me a break. I was ok with that.

OK if that's what they said and you're OK with it then good luck. Interesting as the cost of a CPS is around $40 that they would remove the transmission for $60. The bigger question is how did the CPS swell up . Not a normal result of washing the engine.

I doubt the washing had anything to do with it. It was probably going bad and washing the engine just put it over the edge.

When I replaced my CPS on my '90 240, I had issues removing the old one. The plastic had cracked and the innards corroded. I was able to remove it without pulling the tranny though. Real pain.

I doubt these "swollen" sensors mentioned were OEM. What would cause them to swell? I have taken off may be 50 of these over the years, never seen that! I suppose it's possible, "anything is possible" but the lesson is, don't use aftermarket sensors--some things are not worth saving on! I have seen and heard the bolt holding the sensor stripped, rusted, or broken, then it's a problem.

Agree washing engine might not of had anything to do with it. Could of just mess up at that time. Will say the coating on the wires was in bad shape. I'm just glad its fixed. Thanks
