Hi everyone. The ball joints in the front suspension on my '82 244 need replacing. I anted to find out if anyone has done this themselves before. Is it very difficult to do? Any special tools needed?

 

You need a ball joint separator (either the picklefork kind or better the sikes-pikavert lever type) I think I got mine from jc whitney. It is pretty straight forward. Put car on jack stands undo large bolt, separate ball joint, unbolt the three bolts that hold it on, put new one on, bolt in place...done. You may have to use floor jack or pry barto bring arm up or downhigh enough to bolt back together...
