Default Blower

Well my wifes 1990 Volvo 240 finally broke.

We have had it a year and no problems, not bad for 1200.00 car in great condition

Well its not that bad, but from what i herad its a 650.00 job

the A/c heater blower started smoking and died, smoke pouring out of the dash.

I have been told i have to rewire the blower and replace the switch and the blower

is this all true?????
Can't i just replace the blower and were is it
any help is welcome
Pics and help

GOOD LUCK. It is a pain to replace. If the wires smoked then I would rewire and repair everything. The blower motor is behind the center part of the dash where the radio is.

Sorry no pics.

Also you will have to modify some to install the new one unless it is already done.

I replaced my blower motor in my 86 240 DL in about 9 hours not real hard just a pain to keep everything straight. There are not that many wires that go to the blower that would have burned. and you might be able to find the parts cheap at a junk yard.

ok, I went out to the car today, i was gonna start ripping it apart, goning to try at least.
I tried the blower 1 more time, well it worked on 3 and 4 but, not 1 and 2
kinda was slow to start then took off blowing.

??????? i am puzzled, what can this be

My wife tells me that it started to stop blowing on 1 and 2 and when she switched it to
3, it came back to life, so what was smoking, why did it stop and starting working again.
can this be just a resistor?????, please help before i rip this dash apart

Maybe a resistor but the resisitor is by the blower motor as well.
