Default Blower Motor

Hey all, my 740 blower motor has this clicking sound like a card on the spokes of a bike wheel. I know that something is hitting the fan on the blower motor causing this annoying noise. I have a Chilton's repair manual and all it says is to remove the glove box pannel. No pictures or any detailed info on how to remove the pannel. Anyone have some pics and info?

60 seconds with a flashlight will tell you all you need to know. Sometimes, it can just be a piece of foam hitting the squirrel cage, sometimes it's disintegrating. Once you pull the knee bolster/panel under the glove box, the fan casing is exposed.

sometimes its a bit of an old receipt that got sucked in the intake near the passenger footwell... I've had this happen on my wife's old 960 wagon, was very annoying, but also easy to fix (removed kickpanel for better access to the air intake, and fished it out with a small claw grabber). stuff got sucked in when I was driving with the windows open, and a gust blew the scrap out from under the front seat, got airborn a bit, and SUCK!

good reason to not let paper bits accumulate in the car

Yeah, I've taken off the kick plate and I know where the sound is coming from, but I just seem to be confused. There is a plate with screws all along the side and that is where I assume the blower motor is at. The book also says to take off the glove box and glove box pannel. Is that really necessary?

Another cause/solution: Leaves fallen into the blower--go in from the top by removing the cowl piece between the hood and the windshield, the netting there falls down allowing leaves to fall in and obstruct the fan. There is an intake over the motor that may be needs cleaning.
