Blower motor issue
Hello,
I want to buy a 240 and found one close to me that I am interested in - it's 1990 sedan. The car is pretty clean and has no mechanical issues, apart from the ac/heat blower not working. I've read in some threads that it's a big problem on 240s and can cost around $1000 to replace. The owner's asking $2200 for it but I guess I could hassle it down a bit, is it a good deal or should I walk away?
Thanks for the advise

$1000 for a shop to do it...$100 and a very long weekend for a DIYer doing it the first time.
BTW... It's a 30 minute job on a 740/940 redblock. I'd look for one of them if ya want a rwd redblock.

It took me a good eight hours to do mine but that included a lot of thorough cleaning while I had things apart. Check out this site for what it takes: Volvo 240 Heater AC Blower Fan Motor Replacement
there's an alternate 'chain saw' method of changing the 240 blower, which involves cutting holes in the side of the airbox so you don' tneed to completely disassemble the dash ...
I used a Modified Chainsaw method with okay results. Try googling it. A little less airflow on the driver's side but better when the "recirculate" button is pushed. Took about 6 hrs for me, working carefully with breaks.
