Default Blower Motor Replacement

I just picked up an 1986 240 DL. The one real problem I am having is that there is no blowing. The heat works great but no matter how many times I turn the fan **** back and forth I get no blowing. How tough is it to replace the blower motor. (I think it is the motor. There isn't a fuse for the fan is there?) Is the motor under the dash or under the hood.

Thanks!

I think it could also be the fan **** or something electrical in between. I haven't done this replacement yet so I can't help much.

Here is Art Benstein's writeup on one method of replacing the blower motor. This is called the yard sale method because your driveway looks like a yard sale with all the parts laying out.

Better to replace all three parts: the motor, switch and resistor. They come as a kit.

I've never done it. Thankfully my blower motor was replaced under warranty by Volvo.

The car was built around the blower motor :-)

Default Blower

Mine was making a loud screeching kinda noise- so my electric was ok. I did replace the motor. It was a B_tch, but I did it just like the earlier web post said. lots of skinned knuckes, but 2 years later- she works fine. motor was $38 if I remember correctly. Dave
