Is BP okay for my Volvo?
Hey everyone. So my 91 740 has been running alright. I got some kinks worked out and fixed some things up and it was doing okay. But I had a coupon for $0.30 off per gallon at a BP gas station and after filling up my tank with BP it sounds like a crappy Honda Civic. You all know the kinda car I'm talking about! But I don't know what it is. I know that the occasional sound I hear is the exhaust cover? The metal thing that runs between the exhaust and the motor, it's a little bent so every now and again it wiggles and rattles, which I'll fix in due time. But the motor just doesn't sound healthy, or the exhaust, I'm not sure. ANYWAY, it was fine up until I filled up at a BP and I was just wondering if any of you would know whether or not BP was bad for these cars? Or if it's just bad in general? I read they had to recall a bunch of fuel for some reason and have had lots of complaints, but I don't know. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks guys!
Also an update, I was forced to remove my old little fog horn and put on a new one because the old one rusted right off the car, and I miss it terribly, even though everyone else told me it sounded horrible! Alright. Thanks guys!

There is nothing wrong with BP gas, I use ARCO (BP) Regular all the time with no problem...
These Volvos are not that sensitive to fuel. As long as there is no some gross contamination there should be no cause for concern.

I am not even aware that"sounding like a Civic" is a bad thing! Millions of very happy Civic drivers will beg to differ, and with good reason as Honda makes a fine car; actually many more of them than Volvo drivers. Now, if you say "sounds like a Chinese motorcycle", that I can get behind.
I avoid Arco stations here in California because they tend to be the nastiest dirtiest stations, and often have a rather high credit card markup. around home, I get most of my gas at Costco, and on the road I end up at chevron, shell, valero, etc.
