Default bulb failure light

A few days ago my US import 1992 240 was fitted with day time running lights (to comply with Canadian regulations). Since then my bulb warning light remains on even though all lights work. It only goes off if I put on the high beams. I know it is not a big deal what with wars everywhere aso but I would like to get rid of this light. Any ideas on what I need to do to the wiring (it was fine before). Failing that is there a way to disable the bulb failure light. Oh, and is there a way to get rid of the irritating ping if I am not wearing seat belts?

Thanks!

If i push the seatbelt release button on my 240 the ping goes off....

This is a stupid question but....did you check to see if any of your bulbs are actually out? The bulbs for the head lights on my 240 have two filaments, one for low beam and one for high. If the low beam filament is out my bulb failure light comes on but because the high beam filament is still working if i turn those on the light goes out.

The way the warning relay works is to compare the voltage of matched pairs of bulbs. They can all be burning but if the resistance is different say for example different brands of bulbs it will set the warning light. So also will corrosion on the ground wire, etc. Always change bulbs in pairs to try to avoid this. Check your grounds to make sure they are clean and tight. Sockets too! The warning light feature is wonderful when it works but can be a nuisance when it doesn't. Relay can go bad too. They are expensive. You can also take out the bulb on the dash but then you lose this feature. With light on all the time you can't use this feature anyway.
