Cruising on the highway, heard a clang, everything shut off.

Pull over, just above the driver side motor mount there looks like a square hole with steam/smoke coming out. Also found the one bolt on alternator coming out, not sure why.

This is probably bad isnt it?

 

An engine block with a hole in it certainly isn't good for going down the highway. Maybe degrease it, place it on the coffee table, and call it art?

 

even more than electronics, when you let the magic smoke out of the engine block, it won't go no mo.

in the old days, we'd say that engine threw a rod.

its scrap now. find a compatible engine out of a lower mileage crashed car, swap. or just find another car, depending on how married you are to the one you got.

 

She is dead.

We've laughed, we've cried, we called each other names a few times but she is laid to rest (ironically I was on the way to a funeral when she left me).

I cut my teeth working on her and she was gentle for the most part, head gaskets, timing belts, wiring, fuel pumps, fuel filters, oil pressure, oil pan gaskets were just one of the many many things I learned on her. She will be missed.

The 1985 Mercedes Benz 300SD Diesel is waiting in the wings to take her place (I think he had something to do with it).
