changing rear wheel bearings volvo 940SE Greasing
Hej!
Soon i want to start changing the rear wheel bearings on my volvo 940, its a standard axel, so the bearing set comes in 4 parts; 2 seals, 1 retaining ring and 1 bearing. Now i have a hydrolic press and a weekend to spend, it seems i can fix it. the question i have now is if i need to grease the bearing as much as possible without having the grease being mixed up with the differential oil;
does the inner seal keep out the the diff. oil? can i grease the bearing extra with bearing grease?
Also, if i use the hydrolic press and an appropriate sized pipe to press on the new bearing are there any chances the retaining ring can brake?
o/ kind regards,
Thomas

Have a look at this thread. It describes the whole procedure. It's for a 240 but if you have the live axle in your 940 I think it should be the same.
