Clunk in R/Front, Very Soft Suspension
I love my 1992 VOLVO, all original, TX car, no rust. Here is my issue.. I have a "clunk" in the R/Front when I drive over potholes, railroad tracks, etc. No clunk when on smooth surfaces. If I push down on the fender way too soft and a slight "noise" from the shocks I think. Car does not do the traditional up and down 1-2 times before stopping. Coil over shocks are original and the car has 140, 000 miles on it. Will jack it up, remove wheels, and see what is going on. I am thinking worn out coil over shocks....what do you think??
Thx so much....stay safe and healthy.

Check your ball joints. With the car up on jack stands push/pull on the front wheels at 12 & 6 o'clock. If there is any play it more than likely is your ball joints. Do the same at 3 & 9 o'clock to check your tie rod ends.
And make sure the strut retaining nut is tight. Lift the car slightly, keeping the tires on the ground, and you can use large channel locks on the nut to tighten it. If you jack until the tire is off the ground you will not be able to tighten the nut if it is loose - because of the spring pressure on the threads.
