Default Control Arm degradation or manufacturing defect?

Replacing ball joints, tie rods (inner and outer), sway bar links and control arm bushings.

Pulled the control arm off and looking at the front bushing, it looks like either the weld is degrading or it was manufactured that way, which makes no sense.

Thoughts?

I put a light behind the weld so you can see the separation.

hard to tell in that picture, but looks like it could be some massive corrosion on the weld.

just curious, what year/model car is this from? has this car lived in snow country where they salt the roads?

it's a 1993 240 Wagon,

Originally sold in NJ bought it in PA at auction, owner from 2000-2012 lived in PA (Philly) and drove to Toronto twice a year (I guess lived there half the time).

I haven't checked the other side yet.
