Drive Shaft Not Secure
My 89 Vovlo 240 DL had a transmission leak. The fluid leaked all over the roundrubber ringthat is in the middle of the car that secures the drive shaft and keeps it from bouncing around. The rubber got corroded from the fluid and the drive shaft isn't secure. I don't really have the money to fix it right now. Is this something that can wait awhile or am I going to mess up my car driving it like that?
This guy at work told me that I would have to pull out the drive shaft in the transmission to do it. I still haven't gotten the money to fix this yet. I noticed that my Gear shift stick vibrates hard when I go over bumps, is this because of the driveshaft bearing boot is worn making the draft shaft vibrate?
By "isn't secure", if the donut is deteriorated that badly, you'd get a bad viabration on acceleration, may be some clunking as the driveshaft bounces around, NOT bouncy shifter-that's another matter of bushings there. And you maybe able to get the donut replaced without the complete removal of the driveshaft.
