Default Driver's Window Bracket and Rivets- 1993 240 Wagon

The small front bracket has come off the driver's window on my 1993 240 wagon (please see photos). The bracket had been riveted to the channel that's attached to the bottom of the window. The bracket has a hole that engages a pin on the window regulator. I'm going to try to press it back on and re-peen the rivets and maybe add some epoxy. But I not sure that will work. Another possibility would be to remove the channel from the window. Then I could possibly replace the rivets or put bolts in their place. But the channel is attached to the window with some rubbery material and I'm not sure that it's possible to easily remove and reattach the channel. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

Yes - back in the day (when 140s and 240s were plentiful) My shops replaced many of those window lift rails. You need a new filler strip with the new rail. 1213920 is the part number for the filler strip.

Replacement is not for the faint of heart - you pry the old metal strip off - and hammer the new one on. (yes - hammer the metal bar onto the edge of the window glass.) We never broke a window glass but I'm sure someone has.

If you want both those parts new - Voluparts.com in Atlanta has them.

I'm sure many, faced with the replacement procedure have simply replaced the glass with a used window with a good lift rail already attached - and I have seen the rails glued on (not using a volvo filler strip) - possibly by a glass company such as safelite.

Thanks. The way the glass is connected to the channel, I'm not surprised to hear it was put on with a hammer. I'm thinking that I'll try epoxy first and if that doesn't hold I'll think about getting the channel off or just getting a used window. BTW, someone said that kerosene may loosen the glass from the rubber strip that holds it in the channel.

I'd bet when manufactured there's a special press used - And others may have a different method - but I simply used a hammer.
