electric vs clutch fan - improve engine performance?
don't get me wrong, I know my 240 will never be fast. I just have to live with not having a turbo.
I'm just curious if getting rid of the clutch fan would help the engine work a little better. it always seems like the fan really makes the engine work hard. is there an electric alternative that can be installed and the clutch fan removed?

You are supposed to gain a couple of horses... The conversions are common, both aftermarket and just getting a later set up from a newer 240. When that electric fan kicks up, it also feels like the engine is suffering....
I went without a fan for a couple months when my new GMB water pump omitted the studs to hook it up. Noticed no gain in MPG or power or even rev-ability. Maybe your fan clutch is locked up tighter than it should be? Maybe mine's too loose?
91 940 with an electric fan too, so I didn't think it would overheat, and it didn't, in a Maine spring.
