Default Fixed broken timing belt tips '90 240 b230f

First I would like to thank everyone in the volvo forum for all the great advice and encouragement.

A few tips for anyone wanting to change their own timing belt:

Bentley Volvo 240 manual

10mm-24mm socket set (very least 10,12,13,14,15,and 24mm)

Volvo special tool #5284 (to stabilize crankshaft pulley)

Follow my thread and read the member input and read their 240 broken timing belt threads

Watch video on youtube called Timing Belt Change for Volvo 360 pt 1 & 2

Search on Volvo forum for volvo 240 broken timing belt

Dont let anything FALL into the timing belt cover (eg. small 10mm nut argh)

Don't listen to your mechanic when they say "Wow, really! that's a lot of lbs of torque required to loosten the crankshaft bolt, it's like a MILLION Newton Meters and you have to remove your radiator and be careful not to break the plastic nozles on th....." What?? I did not remove my radiator but I did keep in mind the plastic little nozles, and to remove the crankshaft bolt I stood up, got a good angle on the socket wrence, and bounced on it and that did it.

Make sure all spockets are spot on, on their pit mark, TDC etc.

And I used the same bounce technique when torquing the crank bolt

Good luck and I hope this helps,
ml
