Default front end swap

At this point, this question is mostly a curiosity. But I really like the front end off of the earlier 240's. I also occasionally see the 70's and 80's ones at the salvage yards.
I'm wondering, if I start collecting a good fender here and a good hood there, in a few months I might have enough parts to do the swap. Will the parts be bolt on? Will the bolt holes line up or will I need to modify the old parts to fit the newer car?

if you swap the fenders, hood and grills/headlight buckets, you're find. People do it all the time.

Oh, sorry. Car is a '92 and I es reading that people do it, but that the hood, genders, bumper, grill, headlights bucket all need to be swapped. I was wondering if it was a straight up swap or any other miss would be needed? Because the things I read just said they did it, not how they did it.... Thanks

There are a few small issues. The older cars had fenders that were 100% bolt on, the later cars have a few spot welds that need to be drilled out. The only real issue is that 86+ 240's have a raised vent cowl flush w/ the late style hood that also raises.

The 85- cars have the reverse...

So...the new hood will be lower in the middle than the cowl. Die hards take a torch or cut off wheel and remove a donor cowl, weld it in and paint to match. Plenty of folks don't however...I wouldn't go to the effort unless I was for some reason trying to make an 84 242 look like a 90+. I've seen a 262c Bertone with a new front end...didn't like it because the 262c is in a class by itself.

Wow, Swiftjustice44 that was a good response.. I might collect the parts as long as I find them, and see what I come up with. Even if I don't end up making the switch, those parts are getting harder to find and if I don't end up using them. Someone might need them.
