Default fuel filter for 1987 240DL

I was wondering if someone could give me a part number for the filter that actually fits the above car. I have sent for two separate filters and both are to big. The connections are right but the diameter of the filters are larger than the one in the car.

Thanks

How do you know that the one in the car is the correct one. Are these OEM dealer parts or aftermarket parts.

I don't know for certain. What I do know is the one on the car fits. The ones sent to me, saying they will fit, will not fit. The diameter is way too large. Like oil filter size almost.
Uro was one brand. The other I don't know. I sent it back to town with the wife to return. Both are after market.
I've finally found, what appears to be, an original equipment filter. The ad says genuine Volvo #31262352. I hope it's the right one because im ordering it.

Uro stuff is, IMHO unadulterated junk.

I did order a "Volvo" filter from fcpeuro.com.
I have a couple old diesel Mercedes cars and have a very reliable source for those but they have little for the Volvo's it seems.
I felt pretty comfortable with the fcpeuro site once I started reading the lit.

I opted for the second of the two links above. Ordered it the other day; should be here today or tomorrow.

@pierce - Thank you for that comment about URO parts. I was considering it at one time. Glad I chose not to.

yeah,. fcpeuro is on my shortlist for both volvo and mercedes parts... ipdusa.com is another good volvo parts source, they are in Portland, OR so shipping is a bit faster to the west coast (FCP is in Connecticut, I believe).
