Fuel Guage reads empty?
well, it could be A) the sender unit in the tank, B) the wiring between A and C, or C) the gauge in the instrument panel.
B) is actually the most likely, especially right where it leaves the gas tank.

It has a picture of where the hermetic seal has come loose on the sending unit due to rust (note that it is the same site describing the blower replacement. Great site). I have had this same problem on two of my cars. If this is the point of failure then most likely your in-tank fuel pump is not working as well. The site above describes how to diagnose all of this.
If you find that your sending unit needs replacement, take careful note of the replacement unit wiring. As the site above notes, they are usually wired incorrectly.
