Default Fuel pump for 1988 volvo 740gle

I have a 1988 volvo 740 gle and from what I understand it has two fuel pumps. Does anyone know if you have to drop the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump located in the fuel tank? Is it hard to replace? How can I tell if it is bad?

Thanks in advance.

No need to drop the tank to replace it. There is an access panel in the trunk.
You can remove the rubber hose that goes to the back of the main fuel pump and crank the car over. If fuel comes pouring out the intank one is good. If nothing comes out it is bad.
