Swapping engine and easy to do?
Ok so i have a 1989 740 GL Wagon. It only has 110k on it and motor and tras are in good shape. Car does have structural cancer but not that it would be detrimental. At least not right away. I saw on CL a 1992 740 wagon with a blown head gasket non turbo like mine. Has 180K on it. but the body has no rust and is in good condition. Thought about picking it up and swapping the engine and trans from mine to that one. The cars have the same engine but would swapping also need to keep the other ones intake, exhaust, brain etc or would i need to transfer mine over as well? Thanks
If you know what you are doing go for it... And an engine swap is notthat "easy" of a thing to do.
How much is the other car?
I am sure you can find a good running, good condition 740 For cheap.

I agree, do the head gasket work and keep that car. Engine and tranny swaps were easy and uncomplicated in the "old" days, not anymore. You'd be asking for more trouble and be in the forum forever.
Good luck, gator
