Morning! New to volvo! My son just bought a 1978 244 DL… and we are starting to go through it . Looks like the fuel pump in the tank needs to be replaced-having a hard time getting the 2 existing lines off.
1) The large hose, 12mm inside diameter is hard to find…Recently I have heard on the boards 7/16" ID fuel hose may be available from local suppliers to replace this? If so- any idea how long a hose I need to get( not currently near the car and can’t find anything online) I cannot find a part number for the 1978….
2) The return hose, on the early cars, is rubber covered nylon. The nylon is mated to the sender's inlet ****** fitting using a heat process, and the rubber covering protects the nylon. This hose extends to a junction with the steel return line just above the rear axle.
believe the 5/16 ID injection hose fits better to this barb if the nylon is left in place. I have seen an article online suggesting leaving the nylon/ steel return alone if not leaking and cut the nylon hose at both ends and installing 5/16 injection hose - which will have a nice snug fit if the nylon line is left on the barbs…any help would be great! Thanks
