FUel pump relay
Is there a way to test the fuel pump relay off the car? I think I might have a weak/failing relay causing a hard start / intermittent stalling issue on my grandsons car. When it starts it runs fine. I'm thinking of using a jumper wire to test my theory of a bad relay like I did on our S70.
Thank You.
Thank You.
I haven't ever bench-tested a fuel pump relay but when they start to fail they tend to do so intermittently. This is usually caused by cracked solder joints on the little circuit board - mainly the joints that hold the solenoid. Vibration over time tend to crack these joints. Just remove the relay, pop the cover off and re-flow the solder on the circuit board and you should be good to go.
Never found a way to test them . What I do is replace the Radio suppression relay ( FI) and the FP relay every 2 years and keep the used ones in the trunk. This is provided they were good when I took them off. I do it every January after having my 1st failure years ago. Cheap investment.
