Our adult son has our 87 240 DL and because of the miles he's putting on it is seriously thinking of buying something else.I am considering taking it back and selling the 97 Camry I'm driving.
I've driven Volvos for about 30 years until I recently sold our 01 XC70;we couldn't afford the maintenance. My concern is given its age should I be prepared for some major expense.
I have an attached spreadsheet file showing expenses and repairs on the car for about the last 20 years.It's detailed but if someone could review it and advise me on the prudence of taking it back I'd be most appreciative.

The body is in great shape;there is an area of rust under part of the windshield that is needing correcting but aside from that it's in great shape.
It's had the ac replaced ,IPD sway bar and cam upgrade

Looks well maintained. To me it would be how much I like the car, all those intangibles that affect how you feel about a car. Hard to say with any certainty what will fail next.
